About Jose

Jose started as a Prep Cook for Gainey Ranch Golf Club in 1990 and developed a passion for cooking and the Restaurant Industry. In 1995, he started working for the Plaza Club in downtown Phoenix to expand his knowledge and skills as a cook. He was able to master his skills and came back to Gainey Ranch in 2000 and became a Sous Chef and then later Banquet Chef, and finally, Executive Chef in 2018. In his decades-long career, he has taken immense pride in his work and making sure that all his clients and patrons are happy. He prides himself on his ability to continue to learn and develop not only as a Chef, but as a leader of his team and the experiences they provide for members. In 2024 he was nominated for Chef of the Year for Invited Clubs. When he’s not creating delicious meals, he enjoys spending time with his four children and ten grandchildren.

About Mark

Mark Stombaugh is originally from Northern Indiana but moved to sunny Arizona as a child. As former hotelier, Mark has worked in Meeting & Event Planning and Food & Beverage at The Phoenician Resort, Hilton Scottsdale, Doubletree Paradise Valley, The Boulders, and The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. He joined Gainey Ranch Golf Club in 2023 and continues to deliver a luxury hospitality service to each member. He is married with three adult children and seven grandchildren. Mark and his wife Jackie live in Cave Creek and enjoy golfing, wine dinners, and trying all the new restaurants in town.
